In 1994, Wijaya Kusuma Contractors (WKC) completed the first Under Seaworld in Ancol, Jakarta. This project was important for marine conservation and tourism in Indonesia. A major challenge was finding safe construction materials that wouldn't harm sea animals. To protect marine life, WKC had to import these special, non-toxic materials from the USA.
A key part of the project was a tunnel made of large curved glass panels. This tunnel allowed visitors to see the marine world closely. It included a people mover, which let guests watch fish and other sea creatures swimming above them. Creating curved glass required precise work and innovation, showcasing WKC’s expertise in complex, eco-friendly construction projects.
