Wijaya Kusuma Contractors (WKC) built the Indocoke Coal Industry in 2013. Three years later, in 2016, they completed the Indoferro Steel Factory. These projects were essential milestones for Indonesia's industrial development.
In 2013, the coal industry prospered due to the high global demand for energy and raw materials. Indonesia became one of the largest coal exporters. WKC developed the Indocoke facility to produce coke, a key ingredient for making steel and other products. This facility required precise engineering and strong infrastructure to support large-scale production for local and international markets.
By 2016, the steel market had improved after a slow period. Indonesia also saw a rise in infrastructure projects, increasing the need for steel. The Indoferro Steel Factory opened at a crucial time when demand for steel in Indonesia and Southeast Asia was growing. This factory helped meet the rising demand for steel products, particularly in construction and manufacturing. WKC built a facility capable of handling heavy machinery and producing large quantities of steel, making it essential for Indonesia’s industrial growth.
The history of Indocoke and Indoferro shows their importance and highlights WKC’s role in supporting Indonesia’s coal and steel markets. These projects, completed at key moments, demonstrate WKC’s ability to construct extensive industrial facilities that fit the country's economic needs, establishing its position as a leading contractor in industrial construction.
